How You Can Help
Lincoln’s Promise is a nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to providing free discharge upgrade services to disabled military veterans who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury or Sexual Trauma.
Our mission to advance Lincoln’s Promise is made possible by generous supporters like you. Our primary objective is to help veterans with PTSD file petitions for and obtain their discharge upgrades, and the best way to do that is through (1) DIRECT ACTION, and (2) EDUCATION.

Direct Action
Sponsor an Individual Veteran with PTSD
Lincoln’s Promise attorneys provide beginning-to-end support, through your donations, to help veterans with service-connected PTSD gather the necessary records and formulate the correct argument for the correct review board that is tailored to the veteran’s trauma and service experience. Counseling includes approximately 25 hours of interaction with the individual veteran, phone and email conversations, legal counseling, plus document review and preparation, and legal brief drafting.
Education
Fund a Self-Help Discharge Upgrade Book
for Veterans with PTSD
The founder of Lincoln’s Promise, former U.S. Marine and attorney, Tyson Manker, will publish a “how to” book for veterans to learn how to file their own discharge upgrade applications with one of the three review boards (DRB / BCN/MR / DARB). Manker has previously published a different self-help book for veterans called “VA Handbook for Veterans and Advocates.” Self-publishing through Author House Publishing company costs approximately $10,000 and will take approximately six months to write. With your help, Tyson will publish a manual for veterans with PTSD seeking their own upgrades and advocates who wish to learn more about the process.
